What Is The Traffic Game?

What Is The Traffic Game?

I am sure most of you are already aware of the term traffic and the importance of targeted traffic to your site, more over getting your product in front of people who are looking for your type of product. So what is the game of traffic all about? How do you win at the traffic game? All valid questions which shall be answered shortly.

Too many people allow themselves to be intimidated by the task of getting targeted traffic to their sites. I believe this has a lot to do with all the hype and products in the how-to market that say they will solve your traffic problems. The main key to understand is that you have to learn the basic rules on how people find Websites and you will never be at a loss on how to get traffic again.

The first and most important thing to remember is that everything is connected by millions of web servers. So what does this mean? Basically in a nutshell people discover new websites in three main ways:
1. By inputting keywords into a search engine like Google.
2. By clicking on links in articles or advertisements on well known websites.
3. By word of mouth-online, through forums or chat rooms.

The second thing to mention is that it is all about links. In order for someone to find your website, they need to see it, hear it or write it down and then retype it into the browser bar, or they can click through an active hyperlink. So as you can imagine, what you want to do is get your URL on as many other websites as possible. This can be accomplished in the following ways:
1. Advertising
2. Creating content through articles, press releases, viral reports and etc.
3. Networking with other list owners.
4. Linking your site within forums, newsgroups, testimonials, classified ads, product reviews, blogs and videos.

The third thing to remember is that every market has a mini hub and a hub. A hub can be considered a portal on sites like Google, Yahoo and MSN. The mini hub would be a site located within these portals related to your niche. The site should contain a forum about your niche. This site would be considered your mini hub.

Remember that the traffic you wish to generate should be targeted traffic. You want people who are looking for the types of products you are offering. This will not only improve your close ratio but also eliminate the wasting of your time. As you know, no traffic= no people= no action. Remember there are many ways in which you can generate free traffic to your websites. This can be accomplished through the following:
1. Submitting articles
2. Submitting press releases
3. Distributing free viral reports
4. Participating in market focused groups, forums and bulletin boards
5. Social networking
